Online Education – A Cut above the Rest
ONLINE education is now the in thing these days whenever one graduates from high school. Online education is definitely less expensive than a regular college yet offers the same program leading to a bachelor’s degree. There are different types of online education. Let’s start from the bottom.
There are already a few community colleges in the United States which offer online education. These community colleges offer programs leading to an associate degree. The nice thing about online education is that students do not need to pay laboratory and other miscellaneous fees because there are no physical facilities to speak of. All the student needs are reliable professors who strictly follow the online curriculum stipulated by the community college and constantly checked by the state’s Department of Education. Community colleges are owned by the state which means they are serious about their stuff. It also means that the lack of physical facilities do not constitute a meager education for the enrollee. It is because students of a community college online component are still given the chance for on the job student trainings during their third semester of the course. Their employers for the internship will be the businesses of the particular county where the college is located.
During the fourth academic semester of the program, the student will be evaluated still using the resources online. Online education comes in many forms. In the first one, a student is given an account for him to log in once he or she has been enrolled. In the student account, he or she is given a generic written, video or audio lecture to be undertaken by the professor of the technical program course. Then the student must answer and submit the online quiz of the day within a given timeframe. Another form could be that the student must simultaneously log in with his classmates to listen to the professor lecture from his or her office in a video conference. Another form could be that the student is not given an account but receives his or her lessons and quizzes of the day via email.
But that’s just for the community college. There are immense concepts of online education out there. There are even short courses online to enhance one’s professional qualifications. These short courses translate into certificates which are recognized by a person’s employer and are one of the best remedies to an instant promotion. For example, a pediatrician who has just attended a course in neonatal resuscitation program online will get a certificate from that program and can get a promotion as the pediatrics director of a certain hospital once he or she has secured the certificate.
There are things to be wary about though. There are lots of online colleges which claim to be legitimate although they are not permitted by their state’s Department of Education. To be safe from these bogus colleges, one must get a list of accredited online colleges and schools from his or her state’s Department of Education. One can get a list if he or she emails the Department of Education in the state where the person wishes to study.
